In addition to the common fish diseases we discussed in a different article. There are a few others that you should be aware of.

External Bacterial Infections

Bacterial infections are often difficult to diagnose due to many different types there are. Usually the only method for determining a bacterial infection is with the orange or red streaks on the body. There are also other symptoms that can be associated with bacterial infections. There may be spots on the body, which could appear either red or orange, or red or orange streaks on the body. Dropsy is also a sign of a bacterial disorder. There are a number of effective treatments for many of the strains of bacterial infections. The most common treatments are tetracycline, penicillin, and naladixic acid. Salt beds is another effective treatment that can be used.

Internal Bacterial Infections

There are many different types of internal bacterial infections, however, they are relatively easy to cure. Treatments are basically the same as for external bacterial infections. One of the most common symptoms of an internal bacterial infection is dropsy. The body may become enlarged in various places.

Parasitic Infection

Parasitic infections are perhaps the easiest to diagnose. The fish must be removed however, from the tank while the parasite is removed. Follow-up treatment is essential to prevent fungal or bacterial infections. Usually, you will see visible worms, flukes, or lice on the body. Pick the visible parasites from the fish. Follow up what they commercially available treatment, such as Diacide or CopperSafe.

Fungal Infections

This is a very common disorder which effects all kinds of tropical fish. It can be intensified greatly when the fish had damaged or cut fins and or scrapes on there bodies. It is also much more likely in poor water conditions in which there are unacceptable levels of ammonia or nitrates. Fungal infections are also a sign of bullying by other fish. Fin nippers will also damage the Finns of other fish, making them more acceptable to infections and an external bacterial infections such as fin and tail rot. The symptoms are white, or cotton like substance concentrated mainly on scrapes, surface injuries, fins or mouth. Treatment is relatively easy. There are a great many commercially available products for this including MarOxy and Wound Control.

Cataracts

Cataracts are fungal growths on the eyes. Treatment with any aquarium fungicide should work. It is more likely to occur when you're aquarium water is rich in ammonia or nitrates. The symptoms are a white or gray material covering the eyes only. There is a treatment for cataracts, called Eye fungex by Aquatronics. Also in special attention should be made to ensure that ammonia and nitrate levels stay within acceptable measures.

Bulging Eyes

Bulging eyes or Corneybacteria causes swelling in a head which will push the eyes outward. It is caused by overcrowding and poor quality water,with excess of ammonia and/or nitrates. There are very few commercially available products for treating bulging eyes. Penicillin and tetracycline are among them.

Myxobacteriosis

This infection is rather uncommon but fairly easy to treat. It's like, then this is intensified by overcrowding and poor water quality with high levels of ammonia and/or nitrates. Symptoms may include black patches on the body in things. The body may become bloated or swollen in some areas also.
